Our Story

Daughters of Hawa is more than a “brand”; it’s meant to be a mission, lovingly created by a fellow Muslim who understands the beauty, challenges, and rewards of embarking on the journey of faith. It is meant to be a welcoming hand, a supportive voice, and a helpful companion for Muslims navigating their way through Islam.

It has been created with the intention of rediscovering the true essence and beauty of Islam, untainted by cultural practices and personal beliefs that often obscure its core teachings. Too often, what we practice or believe as Muslims is influenced by the traditions of our communities rather than the teachings of the Quran and the Sunnah. Many of these cultural practices, while not inherently wrong, can sometimes divert us from the pure, clear path of Islam. As a result, even those who have been born into Muslim families may struggle to truly understand the depth and authenticity of their faith.

Through my own journey, I’ve come to recognise that Islam is often clouded by interpretations and practices that don’t align with its original message. The true beauty of Islam is often hidden beneath layers of cultural customs, practices, and even personal biases that have developed over generations. Daughters of Hawa aims to peel back those layers and offer a more accurate, straightforward understanding of Islam, one that reflects the true teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and the Quran.

This is not just for those who are new to the faith, but for every Muslim, regardless of how long they have been practising, who seeks to reconnect with the genuine spirit of Islam. The reality is that even lifelong Muslims can often find themselves practising habits or holding beliefs that don’t align with the core values of our faith. The goal of this mission is to help Muslims understand the purity of Islam and practice it with knowledge, sincerity, and devotion, free from the influences of culture or personal assumptions.

It’s a journey of rediscovery—one that involves stripping away what we may have been conditioned to believe and discovering the unfiltered truth of Islam. By doing so, we can draw closer to the true teachings of our faith and experience the deep, transformative beauty that Islam offers.

The revert guide is a special, helpful tool, specifically for reverts to help them at the start of their journeys. I have had the privilege of being born into a Muslim family, so a lot of the fundamental concepts of practising Islam weren’t new to me after I reverted back. I left Islam for a period of time due to my own personal circumstances and experiences, and my journey back was largely centred around the philosophical aspects of Islam and establishing true faith.

However, after my journey back, I had the privilege of speaking to other reverts and getting to know their stories and while we had so many similarities on our journey back to the truth when it came to our hearts and our stories, it also made me realise how difficult it can be for reverts that have had no prior exposure to Islam to keep up with all the different aspects of faith. While I did my best to answer all their questions and give them as much clarity as I could on things I did have knowledge of, I had the idea of creating something much more solid and comprehensive, to not only save time but to also make sure that the information I was giving was consistent, detailed, helpful and most importantly, represented Islam in it’s truest form.

While there are many amazing resources out there, having a full, comprehensive and organised guide could help any Muslim (especially reverts) with familiarising themselves with the more practical side of being a practising Muslim.

My identity is not relevant or important. I am simply striving to act in accordance with Allah’s will, and Insha’Allah, I aim to faithfully convey the essence of Islam as Allah has intended.

Islam is perfect, but I am not. While I try my best to be thorough and nuanced with my research and knowledge and the way I present it (the aim is to make it accessible and easy to understand), I know that there might be times I make mistakes. If you catch any of my mistakes or think any of my claims in my work are incorrect, please contact me through this site and inform me so that I can look into and rectify my mistakes. Additionally, if you have any topics you’d like me to cover or anything you’d like me to include in this guide, do let me know. I truly enjoy doing this work and would love to hear any suggestions or feedback.
